Originally a part of Haverhill, it was set off in 1725 and incorporated as Methuen. The final decision of the Massachusetts–New Hampshire boundary line (1741) divided the town; the New Hampshire portion was incorporated as Salem in 1750.

And don’t forget to visit the Rockingham Mall, one of the largest malls in Southern NH. There are also several miles of trails perfect for walking, running, or biking. In addition to all of this, Salem also has several restaurants including Tuscan Kitchen, The Copper Door, and Jocelyns.
